Cappuccino

There are a lot of pleasant places around Hamilton to sit and relax over a cappuccino. This is one of them. The name apparently comes from the Italian word cappuccino (kap-poo-cheen-oh ;-) meaning "espresso coffee mixed or topped with steamed milk or cream," so called because the colour of the coffee resembled the color of the habit of a Capuchin friar.

Balloon

A balloon flight on a still Autumn day. This balloon had just taken off (is that what they call it, maybe it's lift off? :-) from Claudelands Park early this morning. What a great way to see the city!

Spifire

Caught this replica Mark16 Spitfire doing a 'flyover' at Memorial Park. It was unveiled on the 27th November 2004 to commemorate all who served in the Royal New Zealand Airforce during World War II.

Can you spot anything unusual with the photo? :-)

Waikato Museum

Here's a great place to visit on a lazy Sunday afternoon. They change the displays quite often so there is usually always something new to look at. Mind you when you think about it why would you go to a museum to look at 'new' stuff? True, but you know what I mean :-)

Frankton Markets

What a great morning to go to the Frankton Markets! Walked around trying not to spend too much money but the smell of bbq food cooking at the food carts soon proved too tempting! After a munch I followed it up with a fresh cappuccino and just wandered around listening to the sounds and soaking up the atmosphere. There are bargains to be had here and it’s great place to meet people and catch up with friends.

Autumn Shadows

Whilst out on my evening ‘slog’ around Claudelands Park I took these photo’s of the Autumn shadows through the trees and Autumn colours of the leaves. Yes Winter is coming, time to find a nice warm pub to sit in!

Loo Anyone?

You gotta love this sign by the Waikato Stadium. These should be used throughout New Zealand?

Ahhhh The V8's

Well it had to come up. What a great three days for the fans but apparently there are a lot of bar and restaurant people suffering after the V8s and none more so than some of the pubs and clubs around the Hood St and Victoria street areas also known as “The Entertainment Zone”. They are left with vast amounts of extra booze that was purchased for the predicted 170,000 crowd that never showed up. On top of that there are the bills for extra security staff, bar staff, food and goodness knows what else. You do have to wonder though why a few did very well in the same area?

But fear not every cloud has a silver lining, how can we help the ones that didn't fair so well? Simple, we get ourselves down there and guzzle as much down as possible until closing time! Come on folks they need our help, there's lots of booze in them thar bars!
