Sadly we won't be seeing this site for much longer. Aucklanders will be able to enjoy a stonegrilled dinner and sail on the Waitemata Harbour from June with the owner of the Waipa Delta confirming the vessel will be moving from Hamilton to Auckland.
Mark Goudie has decided to move the operation to the city of sails despite the Hamilton City Council voting to build a slipway to retain the steamer.
Mr Goudie says the council did not address any of his recommendations so he was moving on.
The Delta's last scheduled cruise on the Waikato River is May 30. All rather sad really, you would have thought the Council would have done a bit more a lot earlier on. Seems it's all just about the V8's.

That does seem rather sad that your city is losing such an attraction.
Yes it is a shame Hamilton is losing this attraction especially as it could have been avoided. Some Hamilton Council members obviously wear big blinkers.
But every cloud has a silver lining as Auckland residents and visitors will now be able to enjoy it and I'm sure it will help enhance the tourism market there instead.
When it starts in Auckland we will make a point of going up there and going for a cruise :)
